Summer at Coton Manor
Gardens that touch the spirit are infinitely more than a fine collection of plants: they are deeply evocative places that speak on many levels. In the 10-acres surrounding Coton Manor, there are views, water, woodland, birds, trees and inspirational planting to enjoy, but for many it is the intangible qualities that have a lasting resonance. ‘What makes this garden so unusual is its atmosphere: it’s impossible to define, but it struck me immediately when I first visited in 1964, and it’s never changed,’ says Susie Pasley-Tyler who, with her husband Ian, moved into Coton Manor 17 years ago. Since then, they have developed a garden known as one of England’s finest, where plants are beautifully combined in the many stunning beds and borders.
