Children’s Gardens
The secret of creating outdoor play areas lies in seeing the garden through a child’s eyes, and providing different spaces for activity and creativity. It is in a garden that many children not only learn where fresh food comes from, but also observe nature, sharing the wonder of seeing seeds sprout, bees gathering pollen or butterflies courting. A family garden provides a safe place for toddlers to potter with tricycles, sand or water; an adventure park where youngsters can work off excess energy in the fresh air; a hideaway in the natural world where teenagers chill out, away from televisions and computer games; and some child-free zones where frazzled parents can relax.
