High Summer Garden

Beauty can take one’s breath away, and the first glimpse of this garden in the twilight of a sweetly-scented summer evening is such an experience. These are its finest moments, but there are also bulbs galore in spring, followed by a hint of Japan in May when the azaleas flower. It is a garden of different moods, and within its tree-lined boundaries can be found areas that are busy or calm, practical or dreamy, separate but seamlessly linked together. Designed by Paul Morrow, a glorious blend of roses, clematis and herbaceous perennials peak in August in the borders and walled parterre where pastel pinks, blues and silvers reign. There is also a raised lily pond, greenhouse, small potager and long borders of shrubs and trees.
