Garden Rooms with a View

Few gardens are naturally blessed with a ready-made backdrop of countryside as a ‘borrowed landscape’, and often the best prospect beyond the boundaries lies in nearby trees. But somewhere within every plot will be a pre-existing vantage point — a kitchen window, patio or meeting of pathways — which provides a starting point from which to work out what improvements are necessary to create a view worthy of the name. Often, a view is waiting to be discovered. It may be a favourite seating area, raised urn or pretty gazebo that either needs highlighting or releasing from surrounding clutter. In other instances, the view is part of a new layout, contrived by the introduction of well placed features and plants.
