This is a very personal garden that blends a love of traditional gardens with a conceptual approach. The design is based on the idea of a journey, creating a number of paths that twist and turn throughout the third-of-an-acre garden, passing through different environments — woodland, sunny borders, hot beds, a shady courtyard and naturalistic corners that blend into the surrounding countryside. ‘I like things to flow and connect — after all, there’s no such thing as a straight line in nature, and my design reflects that with curving lines and rounded shapes,’ explains one the textile artist owner whose skill is clearly visible in the way she uses colours and textures to create dynamic planting schemes in which individual plants come to the fore through the seasons.
