Plant A Herb Container for Summer

Herbs not only taste good, they look good too, spilling over this vintage bucket for months on end with a regular supply of fresh coriander, Vietnamese, golden curly oregano, parsley, variegated thyme, basil and chives. Arranged with the tallest herbs in the centre, and trailing ones on the edge, this deep container holds a lot of earth, so does not dry out quickly in hot weather. As important as size, though, is compatibility with the planting and the galvanized steel surface creates an ideal foil to the vibrant greens of the herbs. Place near the barbecue, but with some shade during the day.
